Global IMA: Development of the New Honda Insight

Introduction of 2nd generation Honda INSIGHT hybrid technologies - "Hybrid for Everyone" and "Next Era Transportation" were the grand concepts for the INSIGHT design. Four key pillars were determined to realize the concepts: 1.Clean and Green; 2.Usable; 3. Fun in daily use; and 4. Affordable. The hybrid power train development balanced these four key pillars with high levels of success.A certain number of innovative technologies were added to the INSIGHT as a matter of course. More importantly, Honda concentrated on brushing up current technologies in detail. Every single part was designed and modified over and over again to be easily manufactured and assembled. The result is an affordable hybrid vehicle with a light weight, compact, and high efficiency hybrid system.
