R. SCOTT BAILEY General Manager, Gasoline EMS & Powertrain Products Vice President, Delphi Powertrain Systems R. Scott Bailey, 54, is General Manager, Gasoline EMS & Powertrain Products, Delphi Powertrain Systems. Bailey is responsible for Delphi’s worldwide gasoline engine management systems business which serves a variety of customers, including automobile manufacturers, commercial vehicles and other powertrain manufacturers. This business unit is focused on providing its customers with high-value, innovative component and systems solutions that maximize engine performance in terms of energy efficiency, emissions and power. Bailey began his career with General Motors Corp. in 1977 with the former Packard Electric division in Warren, Ohio. He has had extensive experience in engineering, having served as chief engineer and divisional director of engineering. Bailey also has strong international experience, having worked in the Asia Pacific region as regional business manager and in Wuppertal, Germany, as a director of engineering for Packard Electric – Europe. He was named to his current position in March 2006. A native of Warren, Ohio, Bailey holds a bachelor’s degree in engineering from Cornell University. He earned his master’s degree in business administration from Harvard University. He is a board member of Beijing Delphi Wan Yuan, Delphi’s gasoline EMS joint venture serving the China market, and is a member of the Society of Automotive Engineers where he serves on the executive leadership team for the North American International Powertrain conference. He has also served on numerous panels focused on relevant powertrain and alternative energy trends. Bailey has been a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council of the University of Dayton; the Board of Directors for Boy Scouts of America (Northeast Ohio); and the Boards of Directors of Delphi’s joint ventures with Akebono Brake (United States), Promotora (Mexico) and Shin Sung Packard (Korea).
